Vibrators and dildos:
Whats
the difference?
By Ann Andriani All Sex Guide
To avoid confusion, I have split up the differences and similarities into two different categories. I hope this clears things up. Before I was involved in the adult products industry, I thought there was only 1 difference: A dildo looks like a penis and a vibrator does not. That was completely wrong, but there are such varieties in each of these products that I can understand how one would be confused. Anyway, here are the basics:
The differences are...
- Vibrators main
purpose is to externally stimulate the genitals and the dildos main
purpose is to provide sexual stimulation through penetration.
- Vibrators provide
stimulation through vibrations and dildos do not.
- Dildos,
generally, are long, narrow and insert able, while vibrators can be much
larger or smaller, can have handles on them and can even be used by remote
control.
- Dildos are generally made of rubber, jelly, wood, acrylic, plastic, silicone and glass. Vibrators are generally made of jelly, plastic, metal and silicone.
The similarities are...
- Both can look like penises.
- Both come in a variety of colors and sizes.
- Both can be inserted, depending on the type of vibrator.
- And both can vibrate.
The important thing about both of these toys is that they can enhance the sex lives of men, women and couples alike. As long as you take great care and all involved are consenting to their being included in sexual play, than they can bring about great pleasure.
