Shopping for a Vibrator

by Ann Andriani on June, 26th 2000

So you want to buy a vibrator but you don’t know what’s out there. Shopping for a vibrator can be a very frustrating experience, especially if it’s your first time. Many women and men feel uncomfortable shopping in a store for this item because they are embarrassed to ask questions. That’s what makes shopping online so convenient. You can search through all the pages and see what different products are out there in the comfort of your own home. And most online shops have a very generous return policy, since you can’t really test drive before you buy. So in the following article, I will try to familiarize you with the different types of vibrators that are out there.

But why would you want to buy a vibrator?

If you’ve never bought a vibrator before or if you have a perfectly happy and fulfilling sex life, than why add a vibrator? To answer as specifically as possible, I must separate my answers into women, men and couples.

Women

Many women have trouble reaching orgasm through penetration alone. Some need constant clitoral stimulation as well, and a vibrator can provide that. As women age, they may experience reduced sensitivity and this can provide the right amount of stimulation that they were used to when they were younger. Also, sore genitals can be soothed by using a vibrator. And women who are disabled, according to the disability, may find using a vibrator quite satisfying.

Men

It is not uncommon for men to use vibrators. Many men enjoy the vibrations on their genitals. Always stay in tune to what your partner likes, but it is not uncommon to run the vibrator down the penis shaft, place it between the ball sacs and placing it on the area between the balls and anus.

Couples

A vibrator can provide mutual pleasure to both partners. During intercourse, while the woman has the vibrator pressed against her clit; the man can also feel the vibrations against his genitals. It can also be used to enhance oral sex or mutual masturbation. A perfect couples vibrator is the Diving Dolphin.

Shopping Tips:

The most important thing to consider when shopping for a vibrator is its ability to stimulate. It is important for you to know what type of stimulation you like the most and where you like it. And although most vibrators offer a wide range of vibrations, that you can control, think about the kind of strength you’re looking for. Generally, plug in vibrators are more powerful. You can usually tell the strength of a battery operated vibrator by what kind of and how many batteries it takes. If it requires “C” batteries,
it will be more powerful than one that requires “AA” batteries.

If portability is what you’re looking for, than a battery powered vibrator is the way to go. If you want to take it on that Caribbean vacation and plan on some water activities, than a waterproof vibrator is best for you. And if you want to cover every occasion and desire, owning more than 1 vibrator is not unusual. We are all human and like different things at different times. In fact, my boyfriend and I own 6 different types of vibrating toys. I love this job!
